A tropical country, one were we experience no snow or naturally iced conditions, like the Philippines will still be represented in the coming Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia.
We will be represented by Michael Christian Martinez. The event is figure skating, which marks the first time a Filipino, carrying the Philippine flag qualifies for the Winter Olympics.
Martinez is ranked 5th in the world in the Juniors Division. Quite a feat considering the circumstances, but the Olympics is altogether a different arena. This is only the fourth time that the Philippines will be competing in the Olympics, the last one in 1988.
Nonetheless, we're wishing Michael the best of luck and thanks for representing us proudly.
