THE PLDT LAST HOMESTAND BASKET GAME SCANDAL
In sports parlance, A homestand is defined as a series of consecutive games played at a team's home stadium, field, or court. It is within this premise that the PLDT Last Homestand was set upon. A send off to the Philippine National Basketball Team, also known as Gilas Pilipinas, that will be competing in the FIBA World Cup, a basketball tournament consisting of the world's best basketball competing nation.
Excitement following the announcement of the even soon followed. This will be another of those once in a lifetime event, wherein a complete team will compete with the National Team. More excitement followed the succeeding weeks as the name of the rosters from the NBA were announced. Announcements were made nonetheless by Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP), the chief backer and President of the SBP.
Top flight players led by Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul Pierce, and George and company were expected to suit up.
Fortunately for the fans, everyone did suit up except for Griffin, George, and Paul. Excitement was still felt, and everybody was expecting a competitive basketball, or at least some semblance of it.
Unfortunately, this will not be the case. A booboo either intentional or not was made by the group behind the event.
What followed was the most awkward practice of all time.
